Why K12?
Connor wanted a hands-on learning option where he could take breaks, move around, and use his fidgets to focus while taking the time he needs to finish assignments.
Student Schedule
Learning Coaches typically spend between 1 to 3 hours each day with 6th grade and other middle school students providing guidance and oversight.
Part of the goal is to help students become independent learners so that they don't require as much direct support during the school day and can ask for what they need as issues come up.

Curriculum
The number of classes students take varies per grade level and individual. Students in 6th grade like Connor typically take between 5–6 subjects each semester, with maybe 2–4 of those requiring scheduled, live classes.
The other subjects are completed via self-guided assignments and skills labs in the K12 interactive online learning system.
In addition to core academic subjects like English, math, science, and social studies, K12-powered schools have a great selection of electives, including career exploration in some middle schools.
Classes schedules may vary considerably based on the individual student and their needs, state, and any special programs.

Hands-On Activities
Connor really enjoys his science class. He loves collecting rocks, and they're learning about minerals in the live class sessions.
Plus, he gets to work with hands-on science materials like the mineral kit full of geodes and even a brachiopod fossil.
