Immersive Learning in Critical World Languages
Our Middlebury Interactive online Spanish, French, German, and Mandarin Chinese courses use immersion pedagogy to develop reading, writing, listening, and speaking expertise applicable in real-life contexts. The courses align to American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) standards.
Classical Latin Program
Stride Learning Solutions also offers Latin, the foundation of all Romance languages—Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian—and the root of nearly all multisyllabic words in the English language. Study of this classic language helps students expand their vocabulary in English and hone their grammar skills across all languages, giving them an edge in any future pursuits that require strong written and verbal communication skills. The Latin program employs classic methodology such as repetition, parsing, written composition, and listening exercises to help students gain a deep understanding and apply the language skills across disciplines.
Flexible Options
Our world language curriculum is structured to allow for a customizable learning experience that can be used fully online, in blended learning environments, or as supplemental curriculum. We can train your teachers in the Middlebury Interactive immersion method of world language instruction, or you can use one of our certified world language teachers to deliver instruction.
History and Background of Middlebury Interactive Languages
Middlebury Interactive Languages was formed in 2010 as a joint venture between Stride Inc., and Middlebury College, a recognized international leader in language pedagogy. The college participated in the design and review of all Middlebury branded courses and in the governance of the company through 2016 when it sold its ownership interest to Stride Inc. Today, Stride and its affiliates continue to provide the Middlebury courses under the strict guidelines provided by the college in a license agreement.
